Why Is Self-Discipline So Dang Hard?
Let’s face it, self-discipline is one of THE hardest things about being human. We want to get in better shape, but we can’t seem to get ourselves to the gym every day. We want to start a business, but we can’t seem to be consistent enough for it to really take off. We say we’re going to eat better and the next day binge on fast food.
For me, it seems like when I start trying to discipline myself, the little rebellious devil in me comes out and sabotages all my efforts for a better life. It’s stopped me from building a successful business, stopped me from getting the best body I can, and has caused me to be really unhappy with myself.
I know that no one is perfect, but there seem to be people who are great at sticking to a routine. It gives them comfort and purpose and they cling onto it like their life depends on it. My mom is one of those people. She has the same breakfast every day, has the same morning and nighttime rituals, and has always had consistency in her life. Well, turns out life does depend on those routines that we do every single day.
So why do so many of us struggle with self-discipline in our lives?
