Teaching people they are victims is damaging because it weakens their willpower. If people already feel they have no chance because people like you tell them they don't, why try? I decided to keep the attention of my story on my personal experience instead of going down the rabbit hole of various topics. I want my main point to be felt and heard: that the concept of racism is ingrained in kids from a young age, creating guilt and shame where there shouldn't be. Now THAT is gross.
