If you follow me, thank you to infinite and beyond.

I’m thrilled that my words are being read, and more importantly enjoyed, by people I never previously knew (and a few I do know — hi mom!). You’ve inspired me to write more this year. And I’d like to begin by setting the stage for you… painting a picture of my life so you can understand the context of my writing.

My name is Tammy, I’m a 32-year-old hiking and backpacking guide living in Yosemite National Park. I smell flowers, watch butterflies, and take people up mountains to see waterfalls for my “job”. I never imagined I would be living this life… to be honest, I didn’t even know life could be so beautiful.

But if you know anything about life, you know that most people who experience rich and fulfilling lives have often been through incredibly dark times before arriving at the life of their dreams.

And that was me. My dream job would have never been mine had I not desperately needed nature in my dark night of the soul…

I married my middle school sweetheart in my early 20s, shortly after both of our fathers had passed away. Bonded through grief and our childhood romance, we got married at the tender age of 22.
